EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

EMDR is a structured therapy that is used to treat trauma and other distressing life events. It encourages clients to focus briefly on the memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with reduction in the associated negative experiences. EMDR therapy has been proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research also supports positive clinical outcomes for disorders like anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and more. (emdria.org)

TFCBT: Trauma-Focused CBT

This is an evidence-based treatment that addresses the needs of children with PTSD and other difficulties related to trauma. TF-CBT provides education to both the child and caregivers about trauma, symptoms, and the event experienced. This treatment helps identify and cope with emotions, and
thoughts and behaviors.

PCIT: Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Not Currently Offering

This is an evidence-based treatment that places emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. PCIT is great for young children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Children and their caregivers are seen together and the majority of the session is spent coaching caregivers in the application of specific skills. Therapists typically coach from an observation room with a one way mirror into a playroom, using a “bug-in-the-ear” system for communicating to the parents as they play with their child which provides real time feedback.
